ChargeNet NZ’s primary goal is to promote and accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is a market leader in electric vehicle infrastructure, installing a nationwide network of DC fast charging stations.
ChargeNet NZ is spearheading a revolution in transportation away from fossil fuels. This cannot happen without supporting infrastructure to offset ‘range anxiety’. Evidence shows that without access to infrastructure providing rapid charging on the go, 54% of consumers will not consider purchasing an electric vehicle.
Only one year young, ChargeNet NZ has installed the only nationwide rapid charging network in Australasia. Through its installation of charging stations it has made travel from Cape Reinga to Bluff a possibility.
ChargeNet NZ is a membership based organisation, consisting of 380 members that create a rapid charging network. Its members will be responsible for 470 tonnes of carbon offset in 2017 alone. Each light passenger electric vehicle displaces two tonnes of carbon.
Currently there are 18 open rapid charging stations, and two in construction. 100 will be installed by the end of 2018.
ChargeNet NZ received a Commendation in the Renewables Impact category of the 2016 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards.
