Go Bamboo is a zero waste company that creates alternatives to plastic products by using bamboo.
The company’s products currently include: toothbrushes, clothes pegs, cotton buds and veggie brushes. At the end of their usual life, all products and packaging can be composted or recycled.
The company’s products are actively minimising the amount of plastic that goes into landfill or gets washed out to sea. Go Bamboo is demonstrating how a sustainable material such as bamboo can be used in place of plastic at a comparable cost. Since bamboo is able to sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, using bamboo as a raw material contributes to negating the effects of CO2 in the environment.
Go Bamboo sells over 100,000 items a year to wholesale distributors in New Zealand and Australia, and retailers in approximately 10 other countries. Its goals include educating people on the problem of plastic pollution on our environment and wildlife.
Go Bamboo is a finalist in the Restorative Innovation category of the 2016 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards.
