This story reflects success in the highlighted areas.
Holistic Vets – integrating traditional and complementary vet therapies.
Established in 2003, Holistic Vets provides innovative ways to improve the health and wellbeing of its patients by integrating conventional veterinary medicine and surgery with complementary therapies.
It is the first vet clinic of its kind in New Zealand to make use of the best of both worlds.
Moving away from practices that focus on managing symptoms with drugs, Holistic Vets helps animal owners, staff and clients understand what they can do to maximise their animal’s life, ranging from healthy food choices to a positive living environment.
Holistic Vets established ARRC Wildlife Trust to care for injured and orphaned wildlife in the community. An important aspect of this is the ARRC kids’ education project, which is designed to educate children on how people’s actions have impacted on nature and the environment, and how they can be the generation to do things differently. Teaching the benefits of sustainable practices to kids at a young helps ensure they grow up making life choices that have positive impact.
Holistic Vets is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Peter Yealands Restorative Innovation category.
