Kai Carrier – reusable food pouches.
Kai Carriers are reusable food pouches designed with the modern day family in mind. They are aimed at reducing the amount of single use packaging sent to landfill and enabling busy 21st century families to feed fresh homemade food on the go.
Designed as an alternative to pre-packaged pouches or baby food, the range has now expanded to include pouches for purees, yoghurt, smoothies, soups, ice blocks, snacks and sandwiches. All pouches are BPA, PVC and phthalate free and can be frozen, microwaved or cleaned in the dishwasher.
Kai Carrier offers fundraising opportunities to Early Childhood Education providers that want to implement a waste free policy within their centre. This not only helps increase children’s environmental awareness through discussion about packaging and more sustainable alternatives, but assists the centres to raise funds for much needed resources.
Since launching in 2013 Kai Carrier pouches have prevented over 1.8 million single use packages ending up in landfill throughout New Zealand.
In its first two years, Kai Carrier has won four awards and doubled turnover from 2013/14 to 2014/2015
Kai Carrier is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Community Impact category.
