Neighbourly – enabling community support.
Neighbourly.co.nz was founded as a site for neighbours to connect with each other and local businesses to address issues affecting their community.
It is an inclusive platform for the community to collaborate through, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender or ability.
Neighbourly is used to share resources, time, skills, knowledge and recommendations of business. Community organisations use the site to enrol volunteers for local events, and councils use it to relay important announcements such as weather warnings and road closures.
Trialled in St Heliers and Kohimarama, Auckland, in December 2013, Neighbourly launched nationally in June 2015 and has amassed more than 140,000 members across 2,000 neighbourhoods and communities. Local boards, NZ Transport and Volunteer New Zealand have all reported that the site has directly resulted in an increase of community activity and engagement around local initiatives and plans.
Neighbourly is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Community Impact category.
