The Waste Exchange – helping business find a market for waste.
“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure”. This old saying is the raison d'être for the Waste Exchange, an online tool to encourage the free exchange of unwanted material.
The Waste Exchange is an online tool designed to help your business/organisation find a market for by-products, surplus materials and waste. Through the Waste Exchange, those who generate waste can find alternative pathways to landfill for their waste products, by connecting with organisations and people who are able to reuse unwanted materials.
The Waste Exchange is a free service available to all businesses and industries and may be used by non-profit organisations, schools and individuals to locate materials they need. The Waste Exchange is an effective way of finding alternatives to sending unwanted materials to landfill, saving on disposal costs, and providing support for not for profit organisations, community groups and schools, who are able to reuse materials.
The Waste Exchange provides a platform for people to access reusable materials, access information about local recyclers and regional recycling services, and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
The initiative is supported by 22 councils across the North Island. It’s free to register as a provider of unwanted materials and a recipient of materials. Find out more here: www.nothrow.co.nz
