Verisafe is a personal safety tool to help businesses, organisations and at-risk people in the community. All users need is a functional smartphone.
Verisafe is a software application that utilises GPS technology and text messaging services. Users can press a ‘Help’ button if they are in trouble, which instantly emails, texts and calls their designated contact person, sending their details and GPS data. There is also an ‘At Risk’ button and automated ‘Home Safe’ checks.
Verisafe is aimed at people at risk of domestic violence, people living alone, people with disabilities and people suffering with mental health issues. It is freely available to all people who are genuinely not able to meet the standard fees of the services, since Verisafe believes price should not be a barrier for personal safety.
Verisafe also aims to collect old phones that would otherwise be dumped into landfills. They will be redistributed to those in need in the community.
Verisafe is a finalist in the Community Innovation category of the 2016 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards
