What we do
With 11 trucks on the road and five branches across the country, KiwiHarvest is Aotearoa’s largest food rescue social venture. Apart from providing much-needed food support to Kiwis doing it tough, KiwiHarvest prevents food from ending up in landfill where it produces methane as it degrades. No food producer wants to see their product go to waste so that’s where we come in. With over 240 recipient agencies, we will direct your surplus food to the people who really need it.
How we can help you to go circular
We can help you go circular by collecting your surplus food, which is unable to be sold but perfectly edible, and deliver it to local charitable organisations working to improve food security.
It is estimated that 60% of food going to landfill is still edible. Not only does it needlessly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, but wasting food also squanders the resources used to produce and transport that food, including water, land, energy, labour and capital.
We work with food businesses including growers, producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, supermarkets, caterers and retailers to rescue the good food that they are not able to sell – whether that is because of oversupply, damaged packaging, cancelled orders, mislabelling, or because the food is nearing its best before date or end of life.
