What we do
The international Fonebank business has enabled circular economy action since 2003. The New Zealand and Australia Fonebank operation has been part of this since 2012. Recyclable units are sent to Fonebank brand owner, Corporate Mobile Recycling (CMR) in the UK. CMR process these units for sale in Europe and Asia. The CMR operation is compliant with both the UK Environment Agency and the EU WEEE Directive. It is ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified.
How we can help you to go circular
Reduce, reuse, recycle. Fonebank keeps the process simple. You send us used mobile devices and we pay you for them. We can liaise with your supplier or deal directly with you. We accept documented or undocumented consignments. If the latter, Fonebank will document as we process and report back to you.
Mobile devices can contain sensitive data. We take data security seriously. All devices that pass through Fonebank have their SIM cards destroyed and are factory reset. If further risk mitigation is needed, our advanced data erasure technologies are available at a small charge to provide certified erasure.
The Fonebank brand is owned by Corporate Mobile Recycling (UK). Founded in 2003, CMR was acquired by Tech Data company in 2016. Tech Data, with a turnover of $36 billion, is one of the world’s largest technology distributors. CMR continues to function as a discrete entity within Tech Data.
