What we do
Every Citizen product is made using edible surplus food, or edible food production by-products destined for waste streams. We rescue this food, then re-work it into delicious food and drink.
Our first product was beer made using surplus supermarket bread. Every can uses the fermentable starches from one rescued slice of unsold bread. Slice by slice, it adds up.
We now rescue wonky, split and unsaleable vegetables and chickpea water to make delicious sauces. Every jar helps reduce food going to waste.
How we can help you to go circular
All our products are made using rescued and upcycled food as primary ingredients and are available for retail, grocery, premise and food service – helping your organisation make a ‘choice for good’.
We’re focused on finding upcycled and/or circular solutions to help reduce food waste. We’re interested in exploring collaborative opportunities to leverage food waste streams within organisations for the purpose of creating delicious, low-impact, high quality food and beverage products.
And finally, our first circular solution ‘Bread into Beer into Bread’ has been recognised as a real solution to help reduce edible food waste. In 2021 we won the ‘Going Circular’ category of the Sustainable Business Awards.
