Ceres Organics distributes organic food to customers across New Zealand and the globe. They make a lot of deliveries. Freight makes up over 90% of their total carbon emissions.
The team at CeresOrganics believe in sustainability. They’re dedicated to cutting their emissions, and freight is an obvious area to tackle. Changes they’ve made include choosing freight companies with an environmental focus. They’ve also switched to larger shipping containers, which reduces the number of shipments needed. These shifts alone have helped them cut their carbon footprint by 4%.
The CeresOrganics team are also pleased to see shipping becoming cleaner overall. All shipping lines around the world must now reduce the sulphur in the fuel they use. This helps to improve air quality, reduce acid rain and soil erosion, and protect human health.
