Innocent Packaging started with an innocent idea, what if we could make packaging from plants and replace the need for oil based single-use food packaging. Globally we have to quit fossil fuels and stop this waste crisis; Innocent’s contribution is creating packaging from plants instead of oil.
We’re focused on leading the way, to inspire change and provide the most sustainable packaging on the market at affordable prices. We’re passionate about helping New Zealand’s leading coffee roasters, cafes, food trucks and businesses become the most sustainable in the world.
The essential concept at the heart of Innocent Packaging is to ensure we can unmake everything we make. We think long-term and don’t sacrifice long-term value for short-term results. From our coffee cups and lids to our salad trays, Innocent products contaminated with food waste can be diverted from landfills into commercial composting sites. Forget the rigidity of classic recycling, composting is part of the infinite, circular, cycle of natural life.
Innocent is dedicated to managing the end of life of our products too and to ensure they make it into Commercial Compost we have recently launched The Full Package with We Compost, the first city-wide compost collection of its kind in New Zealand. Together we have teamed up with 100 businesses across Auckland to produce the first public compost collection for both food waste and compostable packaging diverting up to 1.5 tonnes of waste from landfill per week.
Innocent Packaging is a part of the Circular Economy: make packaging from plants, compost after use, grow plants with compost, and repeat. And yet, Innocent is only just getting started, using innovation and technology we will keep leading the way to a waste free future.
