As an impact enterprise specialising in product stewardship, circular economy thinking and sustainability, 3R Group Ltd is committed to maximising our positive impact on the world around us – environmentally, socially and economically.
Product stewardship is at the centre of our work with businesses, industries and government, helping to create a world free from waste. We consider stewardship – be it voluntary or co-regulatory – to be the cornerstone for the development of a circular economy, and a key part of climate change action. From businesses with a specific waste issue to industry-wide projects looking at the full product life cycle, we are experts in bringing people together to create effective product stewardship solutions.
At 3R we work across a wide variety of waste streams, often tackling the products others put in the “too hard basket”. From paint and packaging to end-of-life tyres, container glass, child car seats, refrigerants, lubricant packaging, chemicals and mattresses, we believe everything should have a path by which it can be diverted from landfill and either re-enter the supply chain or be properly disposed of.

3R looks at its environmental impact from two angles. Firstly, what is the impact our business operations have on the environment, how we can measure that impact, and what actions we can take to reduce it. Secondly, what is the impact our business has on our clients’ businesses, on consumers, on society and on New Zealand’s environment as a whole.
We work hard within our networks and in the wider community to encourage all New Zealanders to live and work within the limits of our planet. We also set high standards for our own business, including carboNZero and ISO 140001:2015 certification.
3R is a member of Climate Leaders Coalition, an initiative launched in July 2018 to galvanise the country’s business leadership into collective action on climate change and help New Zealand transition to a low emissions economy. As one of the few smaller signatories, and only one based in Hawke’s Bay (as at May 2019), we see it as our duty to encourage, challenge and help others to become part of the Coalition.
The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals are an important guide for our work. We focus on SDG8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG12 Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG13 Climate Action, and SDG17 Partnerships for the goals. We align progress on these with our business strategy.Awards and Certifications:
