Method make stylish recycling bins for workplaces that users love – designed and
made in New Zealand. They’ve been called the ‘Dyson’ of office recycling.
Method began when the co-founders India and Steven Korner observed the poor
quality of recycling solutions available for offices. They saw sophisticated
environments with recycling an afterthought – in conflict with the aesthetic created by
With the increasing popularity of open-plan and activity-based spaces, they wanted a
bin that was visible, flexible and convenient, not hidden away in cupboards. They
spent three years researching and designing a bin for the modern space. The bins
are now diverting organisations around the world from Te Papa, to the Sydney
Cricket Grounds to the innovative offices of Foster + Partners.
The result is a bin that simplifies the recycling process and engages users to reduce
waste to landfill.
The bins are made from 50% recycled materials, and they’re working to increase this
to 100% when the supply and infrastructure are ratified. With a preference for NZ
sourced materials and always ensuring the bins are fully recyclable at the end of their
life, they’re truly sustainable bins.
