Mutu Xchange is a digital infrastructure which makes it easy and efficient for organisations to track, manage and utilise assets and materials. The platform also enables businesses to buy, sell, trade, share, rent, loan and donate resources within their own organisation, or externally.
Work on Mutu Xchange started in January 2021. The goal is to deploy the model across three Canterbury-based pilot sites before scaling it up nationally. The pilot sites include Sport Canterbury, University of Canterbury and Christchurch City Holdings.
While still under development, there has been interest in the new platform from some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest organisations including Sport New Zealand, Fulton Hogan, Downer, Beca, Christchurch City Holdings, AUT and Christchurch City Council. Mutu Xchange will provide a range of impact metrics, including reductions in landfill, reduced primary resource extraction, reuse of construction and design waste and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
