CHEP provides pallet, container and crate pooling services for many of the world’s largest supply chains. Through retail-ready solutions and by eliminating the need for secondary packaging CHEP has reduced the environmental impact of many products.
CHEP owns and manages more than 300 million pallets, crates and containers in 50 countries.
The clever design of CHEP’s foldable equipment allows for more equipment per transport load, which in turn reduces the environmental impact of return logistics. The company uses timber that is 100%-sourced from sustainably managed forests. These forests are certified under the Forest Stewardship Council, and CHEP is committed to timber supply Chain of Custody certification by 2015.
The results so far, in terms of reductions in energy consumption, improvements in water and waste management, and responsible management of lumber resources, have been impressive, and this environmental success looks set to continue as CHEP works towards its longer-term goals.
CHEP was a finalist in the Mega efficiency Innovation and Energy Management categories of the 2013 NZI National Sustainable Business Network Awards.
