DB Breweries has long been committed to embedding sustainability across its business. In 2015 the company formalised its sustainability journey by producing its inaugural GRI-based sustainability report.
Based on feedback from stakeholders and findings of a reputation study, DB Breweries identified six key areas to report on:
- Protecting water resources
- Reducing CO2 emissions
- Sourcing sustainably
- Advocating responsible consumption
- Promoting health and safety
- Growing with communities.
These key areas shaped the report and communicated how DB Breweries is acting sustainably in each field. The report is publicly available on the company website.
DB sees the report as a tool for engaging with stakeholders and creating opportunities to shape sustainability strategies through the sharing of ideas and alignment of practices. DB has reached out to customers, suppliers and business partners and invited them to a feedback session to discuss ways to drive sustainability within business and the alcohol industry. The report has allowed DB to share its success and, through this, opportunities for collaboration on sustainability have emerged
DB Breweries is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Cadence Communicating Sustainability category.
