Fuji Xerox – targeting zero waste through resource recovery

Fuji Xerox takes responsibility for all end-of-life products to achieve over 99.5 per cent resource recovery year on year.

Every piece of Fuji Xerox equipment, from multifunction office devices to high volume production presses, is designed to enable ease of recovery, reuse, remanufacture and ultimately recycling at the end of life.

The company has set up programmes in order to achieve zero waste to landfill goal including:

  • Having collection units available for used toner and waste toner cartridges, drums and spare parts
  • Implementing a 100 per cent take-back policy and recycling for used equipment (including third party equipment)
  • Recycling packaging materials
  • Supporting a range of environmental programmes and initiatives

Fuji Xerox’s volunteer product stewardship scheme, which has been accredited by the Ministry for Environment, diverts 1,200 tonnes of branded equipment and consumables away from landfill each year. Of that, 700 tonnes is refurbished and the remaining 500 tonnes is recycled.

Fuji Xerox is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Auckland Council Mega Efficiency Impact category.
