Ian McLean, Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology

Ian teaches conservation biology and environmental science at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. He has built his life around sustainability principles, aiming to raise awareness about the threats to the environment caused by people.

Ian works primarily at local government and community levels to create genuine change. He promotes sustainable action through public talks and submissions on sustainability issues, such as climate change, sustainable transportation, and housing.

He works to raise awareness through teaching, writing, research, and through personal example. He supports many community-based environmental projects, including working with Aongatete Forest Restoration Trust and several community garden developments. He also sits on many forums and sustainability action groups.

Ian G. McLean is a finalist in the Sustainability Superstar category of the 2017 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards.
