Josie never stops talking or thinking about sustainability at Excelso Coffee, where she is General Manager. She has lived and breathed the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ philosophy since her parents established the company in Tauranga in the 1990s.
Josie looks at everything from waste to social input to environmental good. She has reduced waste at Excelso Coffee by eliminating packaging and waste not conducive to recycling or composting. She takes a hard line on the external supply of compostable cups and lids, refusing to sell non-compostable products.
Another of Josie’s initiatives is the Good Coffee range, an initiative where every purchase results in a contribution to clean water wells in Cambodia. Josie has demonstrated that it’s never too early in your career to adopt best practice and lead a step change.
