Kiwi Property Group is one of the leading property investment companies in New Zealand. It owns six shopping centres, two large format retail centres (one currently under development at Westgate) and five commercial buildings.
It has been integrating sustainable practices into its business for 13 years.
Kiwi Property Group’s sustainability commitments were exemplified in 2005 when it made environmentally-sustainable design one of the eight guiding principles for the development of Sylvia Park Shopping Centre. Principles included waste, water, energy and biodiversity initiatives, as well as supporting Auckland Council’s urban renewal initiative.
In 2015, the group installed New Zealand’s largest solar panel system on Sylvia Park. The 1,134 panels are capable of generating enough renewable electricity to power 16 per cent of the shopping centre’s energy requirements. As well as this, since the end of 2014, Sylvia Park is the first retail outlet in the country to install free electric vehicle chargers for its customers.
The solar panels and chargers at Sylvia Park are part of Kiwi Property Group’s continuing sustainability journey. The group also champions numerous sustainability projects to continue its sustainability efforts across its entire business.
Kiwi Property Group is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Renewables Impact category.
