Self-proclaimed eco-warrior, Louise Baker, Principal Transport Consultant at Opus International Consultants, has been striving to make NZ more sustainable for over 10 years. Through her role at Opus, she consults on travel demand management projects
Louise works on multiple fronts to speak, share and develop her knowledge and grow awareness among others. This year alone she is working on several projects, including leading the transportation development plan for Hawke’s Bay District Health Board and AUT’s Travel Plan Update; revitalising the Wynyard Quarter Transport Management Association; reviewing the national carpooling software system and providing Auckland Council’s strategy team with advice on smart cities, transport and technology. Internally, she led the team that achieved ISO 14001 certification for Opus’ Central Auckland office in 2015.
Louise has championed change through travel demand management projects and believes they are the most effective tool for reducing emissions in our cities. This is not just a job for Louise – it’s her passion. As well as her outstanding efforts for a more sustainable New Zealand, Louise is also a mentor to many Opus colleagues.
Louise is a finalist in the Sustainability Champion category of the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards
