Reclaim has a 35-year track record in the waste-minimisation industry. Its recycling services include waste and recyclables audits for businesses and organisations, food waste recycling, and residual waste management.
Reclaim can help organise and educate its customers to separate recyclable products out at the source, but it also runs three processing plants where various grades of materials are sorted to remove contaminants, and are then compacted into high-density bales. Over 300 tonnes of this material is preserved each day, and it can then be recycled either locally or internationally back into new products.
With a charging system that encourages the highest return of clean and pre-sorted recyclable waste, Reclaim makes it worth customers’ while to become more careful consumers themselves. The result is the equivalent of an estimated 10,200 forty-foot containers of material each year that gets reused, rather than winding up in a landfill.
Reclaim was a finalist in the Mega efficiency Impact category of the 2013 NZI National Sustainable Business Network Awards.
