One of the biggest barriers to solar power is the installation cost of the equipment. The solarZero plan removes that cost through solarcity paying for installation and insurance on solar panels, so homeowners pay little to no money upfront.
Instead homeowners pay a fixed price every month (26 cents per KWh, compared to the national average of 27 cents) for use of the solar power system.
The solar-as-a-service model means that Kiwis are purchasing solar power and not solar panels, a difference that means solar users could save thousands of dollars over the long term. As one of the Government’s Focus 500 companies targeted to have a significant positive impact on the New Zealand economy, solarcity is the only New Zealand solar company to commit to a 20 year guarantee on solar power.
Solarcity is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the Renewables Innovation category.
