solarcity is the first company in New Zealand to offer residential consumers an affordable battery storage and solar photovoltaic (PV) solution through its solarZero+ energy service, launched in early 2016.
Homeowners buy clean, affordable solar energy, generated on their roof by a system that is owned and managed by solarcity. They simply pay a monthly energy services fee, guaranteed not to rise for the next 20 years.
By integrating solar panels, battery storage, energy monitoring and support, the company has created a set-and-forget energy system that maximises solar use and makes it easy for homeowners to buy cheaper power day and night.
Battery storage reduces demand on the grid during peak periods, helping remove the need for fossil fuels that generate about 65% of Auckland’s electricity. It will also help the transport sector to cut back on its CO2 emissions as the national fleet switches from being powered on petrol and diesel to clean electricity.
solarcity’s vision is to reduce New Zealand’s carbon footprint and help New Zealand to become powered 100% by renewable energy.
