Thunderpants is a New Zealand made, sustainable clothing brand with a business model shaped around giving back and supporting the local community.
Philanthropants is an extension of Thunderpants’ community efforts. Philanthropants champions several philanthropic underpants projects that provide financial, product and promotional contributions to much-needed community work and support organisations.
This fits with Thunderpants’ core business values of taking greater social responsibility and using its resources to support and strengthen community relations. This not only provides consumers with a sustainable product, it provides opportunities for increased engagement on sustainable issues with the market in a fun and innovative way.
The major Philanthropants project this year was the collaboration between All Good Organics and Thunderpants to raise awareness of food poverty in New Zealand, contributing to a reduction of this social problem by diverting food resource and money from the sale of All Good Banana ‘Philanthropants’.
Philanthropants is a product, marketing and promotional concept that operates across many levels. The ability to design and print underpants that represent certain organisations or concepts provides a unique dimension to the projects chosen.
Thunderpants is a finalist in the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards in the EcoPro Cleaning Co Community Innovation Award.
