Tourism Holdings is transitioning its fossil fuel-dependent motorhome fleet to a low emission one. As there were no electric motorhomes available, it took action and started research in 2015 to fast track low emission travel.
With the help of EECA funding and joint venture partner Action Manufacturing, Tourism Holdings developed the first electric motorhome. Ten electric motorhomes were introduced under the Britz brand to the customer rentals fleet in December 2018.
The Britz eVolve vehicles were fully redesigned from a traditional motorhome to be 100% electric and lightweight, to make the most of the current range of up to 120 km between charges.
Charging infrastructure is up and running at 23 holiday parks in partnership with the Holiday Accommodation Parks Association of NZ. This is just the beginning of moving towards a full low emissions fleet.
