The Wishbone Bike Recycled Edition is a multifunctional bicycle that introduces children from the age of one to cycling and recycling simultaneously.
The company’s mission is to re-invent how children learn to ride a bike and encourage children and their families to live a more sustainable lifestyle for the long-term.
Instead of consuming virgin raw materials, Wishbone’s bicycle is made from PCR nylon and PCR polypropylene, sourced from recycled residential carpets (a world first). Each Wishbone Bike diverts 3.4 kg of carpet from landfill and saves 4.7 litres of oil.
The bicycles incorporate the Rotafix system (patented by Wishbone Design) which allows the frame and seat to be adjusted to fit children from one to six years, enabling the bike to grow alongside the rider. Wishbone Design Studio has won international design awards, including TIME Design 100 and the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award.
Wishbone Design Studio is a finalist in the Mega Efficiency Innovation category of the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards.
