Jörn Scherzer, Manager Sustainability and Resilience, Hutt City Council

Jörn, will provide a brief overview of the challenges Lower Hutt is expected to face as a result of climate change impacts such as sea level rise, and the work the Council is currently undertaking to reduce emissions in line with New Zealand’s Zero by 2050 target.

Crombie Lockwood will present on EQ Learnings and disaster recovery planning. An update on the Wellington regions insurance market and how it is considered very different to other areas of NZ.

Neville Hyde – Past President HVCC

Neville will share his experience regarding natural disaster impacts on the insurability of property and infrastructure. He will outline the options that may have to be considered with the local insurers withdrawing from the market or offering prohibitive premium rates.
