Covid-19 and plastic packaging

As part of Plastics Free July this webinar will update on Covid-19’s impact on New Zealand’s systems for plastic packaging design, production, distribution, use, reuse, recycling and disposal.

This event is brought to you in partnership with Foodstuffs. It follows on from The Sustainable Business Network’s successful Plastic Packaging Masterclass Series, which continues in September.

The latest changes have further highlighted the urgent need for a circular economy in New Zealand’s plastic packaging. This is an economy where we design out waste, keep products and materials in use and regenerate natural systems.

Getting this right will generate vital opportunities for economic growth. It will restore the environment, create jobs, and benefit society. Never has that been more important.

The webinar will include:

  • Mike Sammons – Foodstuffs: Current and predicted impacts of covid-19 on plastic packaging
  • Jemma McCowan – New Zealand King Salmon: Market impacts of Covid-19, the transition to e-commerce and its packaging implications
  • Michael Bassagre – Sealed Air: The changes witnessed in packaging demand as a result of Covid-19 – current and predicted.
  • Peter Thorne – Reclaim: Update on New Zealand’s recycling system

This webinar includes an open questions and answers session.
