Creating a Food Secure Future for Wellington

This hui is centered around the question ‘What does a food secure future look for Wellington, and how do we get there?

*This event is invite only*

During the Covid-19 pandemic we have seen a huge rise in food insecurity. As Covid resurgences threaten and climate change looms, many food security providers are aware of the overwhelming challenges.

We need solutions that solve the problem of hungry Wellingtonians today. We also need solutions that empower people and communities so we can build a more food secure future for all scenarios. But how do we get there?

This hui creates space for all those in Wellington tackling the issue of food security to come together. This is an opportunity to hear about innovative new approaches and collaborations, to share, learn and ideate with others. You will also be able to reflect on the aspirations of your own organisation and community.

Kore HiaKai (Zero Hunger Collective) will support these discussions alongside the hosts, the Sustainable Business Network and Wellington City Council. We will also hear from WELLfed, Wesley Community Action and Wellington City Mission. After the keynote speakers and panellists the rest of the hui will be facilitated breakout sessions. We’ll have time at the end for drinks and networking from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

This hui seeks to build on the amazing conversations that are already underway across the city. It will focus on action and the next steps for you at an organisational level. The event is invitation only. That said, if you know of someone who is leading awesome mahi in this space, please let us know about them.

Please grab a ticket for one or two members who can represent your organisation at this hui.
