Exploring Socially Just and Sustainable Cities

Join the sustainability conversation with fresh ideas and learnings from the EcoCity World Summit, discussing new sustainability paradigms!

Our cities are under increasing pressure from the impacts of growth, resulting in housing shortages and concerns around food production and biodiversity. We also need to rapidly move to a low carbon circular economy.

We cannot continue to look at these challenges in isolation. Instead, the solutions we develop must understand the connection between a healthy natural environment and social equality. Our cities can be places of vibrancy, opportunity and connectivity, but this has to be by design and with intent.

Back from the EcoCity World Summit in Vancouver, Jo Wills from Sustainability Options will share learnings and ideas about the key principles that need to be prioritised for urban development. This presentation won’t be focused on theory, regulatory or RMA constraints. Rather, to address the changes needed, a new paradigm must be adopted.

Key topics to be covered:

  • housing
  • transport
  • biodiversity
  • social equity
  • climate change mitigation

There is no charge to attend. Tea/coffee and nibbles provided.
