Did you know that extending the life of your clothing by just 9 months reduces carbon, waste and water footprints by 20 – 30% each??
Join The Formary for this months mending class focused on mending basics with guest mender, Barbara Wheeler.
Barbara Wheeler is an Australian textile artist working with natural fibres, botanic prints and dyes. Her clothing label, every thread counts, promotes awareness of alternatives to the waste, pollution and exploitation that is at the heart of the global fast fashion industry. During August and September, Barbara will be artist in residence at the Wellington Botanic Gardens.
Barbara will demonstrate what you need in your mending kit to get started, the basics of woolen mending and she will introduce you to The Japanese Approach of sashiko and boro: “clothes are treasures that can last forever”. Bring your mending along!
Drinks and nibbles provided.
Limited spaces available, please register your spot.
