Sustainable Business Network is excited to host a series showcasing our amazing members. Through five-minute pitches, we hear about what makes their business an exemplar of sustainable practice; how their service or product stands out within a low-carbon framework; or how they are transitioning to set the sustainable gold standard in their field. Join us to find out more about their businesses and to ask questions!
Our first speaker of the session is Cheryl Eldridge, co-founder of Stansborough . Stansborough creates inspirational, sustainable and chemical-free, designer woollen textiles that can be found from New Zealand to Hollywood. Working with the inspiration and support of the Stansborough team, they have made our way through these challenging times by thinking outside the square, while helping others.
Cheryl will discuss a shared passion for sustainability and working with the planet since purchasing their farm and rare grey sheep 30 years ago; and how these concepts – creating innovative, 100% pure New Zealand natural woollen textiles with a zero carbon footprint, while also caring about the health and welfare of the animals they farmed – were ahead of their time. Their Women’s Refuge Covid19 Collection, inspired by several major difficulties of the last 8 months, is testament to that.
Our next speaker is Bernadette Casey, a founder of sustainable clothing consultancy The Formary, which leads the Textile Reuse Programme – a cross-industry collaboration dedicated to radically reducing the environmental impacts of what we wear by building a circular economy for clothing. Bernadette will speak about how, in the wake of COVD-19, we can turn New Zealand’s tsunami of unwanted clothing into new jobs and revenue opportunities and a smarter low carbon economy.
These pitches give insight into how many awesome thinkers are not just in New Zealand, but comprise part of the Sustainable Business Network family. Each week will feature two SBN Members, followed by ten minutes to ask questions or give comments. Support your SBN family, and help to create a resilient economy.
Although we are experiencing great economic uncertainty, there are so many businesses with great stories – this is your 30-minute lunchtime opportunity to learn about them. We look forward to your questions, and to seeing you there!
Note: SBN is a charity committed to supporting business so people and nature prosper. All funds go towards our collective work in moving towards a regenerative systems shift in climate, waste and water. We thank you very much for your support.
