Our final SBN event of the year here in the Bay, so come along and celebrate!
This is your chance to celebrate the end of a busy but successful year for the Sustainable Business Network here in the Bay of Plenty and our fast-growing group of members. At this special Tauranga Green Drinks, we’ll highlight the new Million Metres Streams campaign: Let’s make Kaiate Falls swimmable again! The local community, BOP Regional Council and Waitao Landcare Group have teamed up with Million Metres to fundraise for the restoration of this important local waterway and we are excited to share how you can be part of this project.
The goal is to clean up the water that flows along Otawera Stream and down to Kaiate Falls, so that it is once again safe to swim there. Together, we’ll achieve this by fencing off and planting the waterways upstream from Kaiate Falls, to keep livestock out of the water and filter runoff from farmland. This project aims to fence off 1500 metres of stream and plant over 6,700 natives to plant, resulting in over 1.3 hectares of restoration.
Everyone is welcome to attend this event, including our new Now Crowd members. There is no change and there’ll be plenty of complimentary nibbles and drinks courtesy of Yealands, Hallertau and Good Buzz. Thanks also to Basestation for providing us with the great downtown venue.
