Calling the Construction and Demolition sector!

By jay

The building industry is booming. Construction and demolition waste accounts for almost half of what we throw away each year in NZ. SBN is working to tackle this. But we need your help.

How can we reduce waste in the construction and demolition sector? Can we shift from demolition and disposal to deconstruction and reuse?

The Sustainable Business Network is leading an exciting new collaborative project with WasteMINZ, Community Recycling Network, AUT University and Entire Consultants to find out. It is funded by the Waste Minimisation Innovation Fund from Auckland Council.

We’ve taken insights from designers, architects, builders, contractors and community organisations. Now we need your help.

We are hosting a working breakfast on 20 July at AUT University. It’s open to everybody working in construction and demolition in the Auckland region with an interest in reducing waste. We will bring everybody up to speed on where we are at and work together to establish new ideas in the sector.

To make the most of the event and hit the ground running, we’ve created a quick survey to identify the areas we should focus on. Even if you can’t come to breakfast, it would be great if you could take a look.
