The Green Living Network was founded in 2009 by Tina Raines, in response to her belief that although the world saw New Zealand as clean and green, there was limited focus on sustainability for the public and business. She travelled around New Zealand to understand the views of a wide group of people.

She discovered that people did not know how to access the green solutions that were available in the marketplace.  Her research showed that many people wanted a platform from which they could celebrate green solutions and learn more about what green living is all about, and more about sustainability and organics.

“Many of the people I surveyed ran green, resilient and sustainable organisations and operations, but were unsure of how they could reach out to the community with their green messages.  So, we started The Green Living Magazine, a free subscription based magazine which promotes green living and sustainability,” says Tina.

Her experience with the survey and the success of The Green Living Magazine inspired her to bring together all of the companies she discovered in New Zealand to showcase their products and service at a two-day show. The inaugural Green Living Show & NZ Organic Natural took place in 2011 in Auckland.

“The show is about keeping products “fresh” in the marketplace , a good branding opportunity, launching new products, generating sales, getting feedback, new leads  and meeting visitors face-to-face,” says Tina.

The focus of The Green Living Show 2014 is the future of sustainability in New Zealand, showcasing cutting-edge products, services and ideas.  The event gives companies and other organisations the opportunity to showcase their technologies and businesses.

A series of workshops and presentations complement the exhibition, providing the information needed to make sustainable choices that will have a positive effect on the future.  The upcoming edition of The Green Living Magazine gives more detail on the workshop programme – you can subscribe here to get your free copy.

“The exhibitor booths are always a focus of excitement and conversation among the attendees.  People gather to see what is on display. Exhibitors include clean energy technology, ecobuild experts, think tanks, innovative leaders, organic and natural suppliers and more. Booths are creative and draw attendees in to talk, ask questions and buy,” says Tina.

The B2B (business to business) focus is to the Green Living Show.  On the day before the show, ‘Business Time’ is scheduled, for business meetings arranged in advance, AGMs and focussed seminars for groups from Auckland and out-of-town visitors.  Industry leaders are brought together, including farmers from outside Auckland to meet and exchange ideas at The Green Living Show & NZ Organic Natural Expo.

“Everything about The Green Living Show aims to be a step ahead of the rest.  We are committed to supporting every person to limit their negative impact on the planet, not just in some areas of their lives, but in all of them, including a healthy lifestyle, a healthier you, a healthier planet,” says Tina.

The Green Living Show is a platform from which to promote important messages and educate attendees about sustainability, but it is also a place to try and buy.  Visitors can taste delicious local food and drink, get expert health and wellness advice, find everything required to build and renovate warm, healthy and energy efficient homes, and hear presentations from leading sustainability and health professionals.

“The show has something for everyone interested in business, living a more sustainable and healthier life, saving energy, ecobuild ideas, an organic feast, organic wines, organic beauty products and more.  If you are looking to be an agent for products, there will be opportunities for you,” says Tina.
