The SBN Sustainable Procurement Leaders Group aims to revolutionise New Zealand’s business purchasing systems, to make them world leading on sustainability. The group will bring together the most influential procurers in the country. It will focus on overcoming the barriers to sustainable procurement nationwide.
The Group will be facilitated by SBN’s Holly Norton. She has taken on this new role after 11 months as SBN’s regional manager in the capital.
Holly says: “Businesses know they have huge influence. They can set high standards for things like climate, waste and water in their procurement policies. But it can be tough to find the right suppliers and know what to ask them. It’s also challenging to know how to monitor changes, measure success and get leadership buy-in. Making this the norm means changing the system for everybody.”
The Group will meet quarterly. It will define best practice for environmentally sustainable procurement. It will co-design practical ways to implement it. Participants will gain deep understanding of procurement best practise. Together they will identify the tools, resources, and solutions required to transition to best practice. They will also work together to achieve leadership buy-in and lead effective change.
The first quarterly meeting is set for next month via Zoom. Places are limited, and interest is high. Each quarterly session will build on the previous ones, so SBN will be prioritising those that can attend all four in the first 12 months. The cost to participate is $5,500 a year, with discounts available for SBN Members and Investors.
