Aucklanders, there’s a feast in store for you next month with a host of social innovation events taking place throughout September, all under the umbrella of Social Innovation 2014.
Social Innovation 2014 is a shared brand for a series of social innovation events taking place in Auckland. A partnership of 11 organisations, including the Sustainable Business Network, it aims to build an ecosystem of innovators to amplify ideas resulting in lasting positive social change.
Project leader Joel Umali from Auckland Council says that the Social Innovation 2014 team has set up a new website to publicise 10 social innovation events taking place in Auckland in September.
“Aside from the awesome events, the site features blogs from people who are making a difference. These are their stories of change, collaboration and action,” he says.
“Social innovation means new ideas that resolve social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges for the benefit of people and planet. The organisations involved in Social Innovation 2014 are collectively helping contribute solutions to these challenges.”
The organisations involved in Social Innovation 2014 are: Sustainable Business Network, Social Enterprise Auckland, Akina Foundation, Inspiring Stories, Auckland Council, Social Innovation New Zealand, Young Innovators Collective, Curative, AUT University, Innovate Change and Soul Capital.
The social innovation events taking place across Auckland include SBN’s conference Project NZ: The Big Shift and the Good Food Feast, in addition to other events including a workshop on Social Enterprise 101 run by Auckland Council and a talk on social enterprise in non-profits organised by Social Enterprise Auckland.
