February is Aotearoa Bike Challenge Month! Get your people signed up at aotearoa.bike now!
The Aotearoa Bike Challenge starts on February 1. Already more than 70 SBN members have signed up to take part in this friendly nationwide competition. Organisations and departments will compete against those of a similar size. Achievement prizes and spot prizes include a new bike, a holiday in Europe and more!
There are more than 600 participating companies nationwide. There’s no need for Lycra. Nobody has to spend thousands on a new bike. It’s all about ordinary folks using bikes more for everyday things. Just sign up to the website, join a team and log your cycling trips.
The website shows how many calories you have burned, and how much CO2 you may have avoided emitting with each ride. You can see how your team is doing and compare yourself to others. The website will also let you know about cycling events across the country.
When you sign up post a photo of your team, or anything cycling-themed, to your Facebook page. Tag @SustainableBusinessNetworkNZ and we will share it far and wide to encourage others. The Sustainable Business Network is backing the challenge as part of its BikeNow! project, in partnership with NZTA, AECOM and Fulton Hogan.
Phil Jones, BikeNow! Project co-ordinator, says: “Even one 10 minute ride on a nice sunny day in February contributes to your team and may get a spot prize. And once you give it a go, I know you will save time and money and feel better!”
