Our organic food ingredient business supplies to trade, ranging from retail and hospitality to manufacturing. As a distributor, in addition to grocery, we also distribute an extensive range of health and beauty products.
Ceres Organics started out as an organic co-op back in 1982, and by 2001 had grown to become the first BioGro certified organic distributor in New Zealand. Ceres Organics is also a founding sponsor of the GE-Free communities, and our ongoing support of the GE-Free movement attests to our commitment towards a more socially and ecologically responsible food supply.
Today we are the most comprehensive certified organic distributor across Australasia, and have our own flagship brand - Ceres Organics. Increasing consumer awareness and demand for healthier foods like organics, has seen our range grow to over 300 products. These are now widely distributed throughout major health food stores and supermarkets, increasing the accessibility of organics to mainstream consumers. Commitment towards this growth has enabled us as a company to work towards our mission to make organic, biodynamic and GE-free food available to all.
Ceres Organics started with the small ambition to change things, and as part of our core values we aim to have a positive impact through doing business. As we have grown, our community of organic farmers has grown, and the number of people who buy organics has grown too, together creating a better tomorrow.
Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, so we have a sustainable building, and we are accredited with external third parties like BioGro, EcoSocial and Conscious Consumers. We believe that if we all do our part, we can create a more sustainable, ethically and socially responsibly supply chain, that we can bring integrity back to the food supply and create a better world for tomorrow.
What or how does your business contribute to a more sustainable NZ?
As part of our core values, we aim to have a positive impact through doing business. Our impact, however, goes beyond that of what goes on here locally in New Zealand. We support organic growers globally. This intrinsically has a restorative effect on the planet and on the people because it is grown and produced without harmful synthetic pesticides, herbicides and chemicals that pollute our air, land and water - and are harmful to humans.
Giving more back to the environment, rather than taking from it, is something that as a brand we inspire to. With the organic food we supply, where ever it is sourced, we are helping restore soils, waterways and the environment - working towards increasing the integrity of the food chain.
