Kaibosh is New Zealand’s first and most well-established food rescue organisation. We rescue quality surplus food and provide it free of charge to community groups supporting people in need.

Working seven days a week in Wellington and the Hutt Valley, Kaibosh rescues over 10 tonnes of quality surplus food each month, providing it to community groups supporting people in need. This equals more than 28,000 meals, as well as a monthly carbon emission reduction of 7,785kg.

We extend the life-cycle of food products through using 100% of ‘waste’ – quality food is provided to community groups; remaining food is provided to animals or composted; and packaging is recycled.

Kaibosh is a not-for-profit organisation that operates with the help of more than 120 dedicated volunteers.

What or how does your business contribute to a more sustainable NZ?

Kaibosh efficiently addresses food poverty and food waste by:
- Reducing strain on landfills and reducing carbon emissions.
- Supporting long-term approaches to poverty alleviation by providing quality, nutritious food to community groups which offer comprehensive services.

Kaibosh connects businesses with their community and encourages responsible business practice.

Kaibosh raises awareness of food waste through our communications, leading to individuals reducing their own domestic food waste – this has potential for a behaviour change ripple effect across New Zealand.
