SBN is bringing together business leaders, innovators and government stakeholders into a Nature Regeneration Partnership. Together, we will develop a nationwide system for impact investment in nature regeneration.
Our mission is to collectively generate $10 billion of investment into biodiversity based solutions, by creating the necessary tools and frameworks to make this a success.
The partnership will be funded and guided by a collective of larger private and public organisations. They will have a strong interest in investing in solutions that will regenerate biodiversity, climate, mana whenua-led kaitiakitanga and wellbeing. This group will bring an understanding of systems thinking, specifically with skills in government policy, regulations and investment along with a deep understanding of business.
There are a diverse range of organisations we already partner or work with. These include: Trees that Count, Pest Free Wellington, Sustainable Coastlines, Tāne’s Trust, Ekos, Toitū Envirocare, Calm the Farm and more. Each has their own focus area and funding targets. But all of whom share a similar goal for regenerating biodiversity and climate.

We are seeking investment for the following projects. Funds help support the costs of native plants, materials and labour. Your business can help!
We aim to secure an investment of at least $12 million across the country for the Million Metres Streams Projects over the next five years. With our partners we’ll create at least 70 new roles for local people, who will complete at least 600 nature related training accreditations. We will restore at least 70 hectares and plant at least 400,000 trees.
Since 2018 the Sustainable Business Network has been on a mission to improve the mauri of Tīkapa Moana (the Hauraki Gulf). We aim to secure an investment of at least $6 million for protecting and restoring Tīkapa Moana/the Hauraki Gulf over the next five years. We’ll create at least 30 new roles for local people, who will complete at least 200 nature related training accreditations. We will restore at least 30 hectares and have planted at least 100,000 trees.
We’re helping to restore the mauri of the land, waters and communities of the Puhinui catchment. We’re creating and financing jobs for local rangatahi that contribute to a restoration vision led by mana whenua and the local community. With our partners, we aim to secure an investment of at least $16 million for the Puhinui Regeneration Project over the next five years. We’ll create at least 100 new roles for local people, who will complete at least 800 nature related training accreditations. We will restore at least 10 hectares of land, and plant at least 250,000 trees.
