Regenerating Nature

Aotearoa New Zealand has the highest proportion of threatened indigenous species on Earth. More than 4,000 species are at risk.

Regenerating nature is vital if we are to tackle climate change and species extinction, as well as secure a positive future for all of us. Intact ecosystems are among the most powerful and effective ways to safely absorb greenhouse gas emissions. They are a fundamental source of health and well-being for our people.

The purpose of our Regenerating Nature programme is to connect and resource people to accelerate nature regeneration across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Regenerate Nature Programme

SBN is bringing together business leaders, innovators and government stakeholders to drive a step change in nature regeneration in Aotearoa New Zealand. This public/private partnership is focused on developing effective formalised systems that enable business investment in nature, community and climate. The programme learns from, and informs, our partnerships with mana whenua and local communities.

Million Metres Streams

We're restoring the nation's rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands with native plants and trees. Our vision is for a future in which Aotearoa’s waterways are restored as vital havens for wildlife. Where it is once again normal to swim in them and drink from them.
