  Our introductory workshop provides an overview of what sustainability means in a business context. We look at the why and the how, identifying what you can do within your business to mitigate any negative impacts and maximise the value you provide.

  The workshop covers:

  • A high-level understanding of the challenges we all face.
  • What your business impacts and dependencies are.
  • Identifying current and future risks and opportunities.
  • Where to go to for support.

• Create an Action Plan for Nature

  Regenerating nature is vital if we are to tackle both the climate and biodiversity crises and to ensure a more equitable future for all. Nature is one of the most effective ways of combatting climate change but it’s also severely impacted by the climate crisis. Climate and nature therefore need to be managed together led by the community and people on the ground.

  The workshop covers:

  • Why your business needs to take action. Key drivers and opportunities.
  • How your business is impacting and dependent on nature.
  • Which nature positive actions to prioritise for your business.
  • The role of partnerships and investments.

  Participants will complete a Nature Action Plan that helps you identify a practical action for nature and a pathway for implementation.

• Climate Basics for Business

  This workshop is ideal for businesses that are new to climate action and want to know how to get started. Explore what climate action looks like in your business and where to focus efforts.

  The workshop covers:

  • The opportunities and benefits of taking action on climate change.
  • Clarify understanding of what carbon emissions are and the scope for initial recording of emissions - making the complex approachable.
  • An overview of the Climate Action Toolbox and the climate action calculator.
  • Examples of SMEs' carbon footprint reporting and reduction targets.

• Applying Circular Thinking

  An introduction to the role of business in the emerging circular economy. Delve in to basic circular economy principles and ideas for how to start going circular.

  The workshop covers:

  • An in-depth look into what a circular economy is.
  • Identifying how a circular economy is relevant to business.
  • Exploring practical ways to apply circular thinking.

• Communicating Sustainability

  While demonstrating commitment to sustainability has never been more important, communicating it isn’t always straightforward. Some companies say too much, while others say nothing at all, often out of fear of being criticised. This practical workshop will help you learn how to communicate sustainability effectively using practical examples.

  The workshop covers:

  • How to promote work on sustainability.
  • How to avoid ‘greenwashing’, over-reach and potential pitfalls.
  • Best practice in sustainability messaging and communication strategy.

• Product Stewardship

  This workshop helps organisations take responsibility for the products they make, sell and buy. This means designing and making products to last, then putting systems in place to enable them to be reused and recycled when they are worn out.

  New Zealand businesses can reduce their environmental impact through changes in procurement – what they buy, who from and how. This workshop covers what best practice looks like and provides support around the tools, resources and solutions available to help transition to best practice.

  • A look at the different tools, resources and solutions available to help transition to best practice.
