Disruptive Innovation
2025 AWARD COMMENDATION
Architects and engineers traditionally make design decisions based on experience, spreadsheets and static reports. By the time someone calculates the true cost and carbon impact of a design choice, weeks have passed and the decision is already locked in.
nezo (formerly V-Quest) changes this. The software combines real-time data on cost, embodied carbon and design efficiency into a single platform. It integrates with design platforms like SketchUp, Revit and ArchiCAD so people can keep using the tools they already know. As architects design, they can see the immediate impact of each choice.
This means sustainable design becomes practical. Users can rapidly model alternatives and compare options knowing they're seeing the implications in real time.
One user reduced the carbon emissions in their project by 3,750 tonnes, reduced construction costs by $750,000 and saved 30 hours of design time.
The platform consolidates fragmented information, such as supplier data, carbon factors and labour costs, into one accessible place. It eliminates the need to export models or break workflow.
The judges said: "Nezo’s software empowers architects and designers to make low-carbon choices from the earliest stages of a building project. By integrating live data on embodied carbon and cost directly into design systems, it makes sustainable design simple and accessible. It’s a powerful tool for decarbonising the built environment."
