Why this mahi matters

The Puhinui Stream flows from Tootara Park near Auckland’s Botanic Gardens in Manurewa, weaving through Ootara and Papatoetoe before reaching the Manukau Harbour.

The surrounding area carries the ecological, social and economic scars of colonisation, mining and urbanisation. But hope is flowing back in. Communities, mana whenua and organisations are coming together to regenerate the whenua, restore the stream and reimagine a thriving future.

We’re supporting local groups leading this mahi, working to the aspirations of mana whenua while contributing toward the award-winning strategy Te Whakaoranga o Te Puhinui.
