Meet some of the speakers, panellists and supporters from the rural sector:
Samuel Whitelock, farmer and former All Black, will join for dinner on May 27to share and reflect on the highs and lows of both his rugby career and farming life, offering a candid discussion on the challenges he has faced and continues to tackle on the farm. He’ll also share his vision for the future of New Zealand farming, exploring how we can build a resilient, sustainable sector in the face of ongoing change. Samuel’s session will be followed by a 25-minute Q&A, providing an
opportunity for attendees to engage directly with him.
Joining Samuel will be Matt and Jana Hocken dairy farmers from the Manawatū who have successfully implemented lean farm practices to grow the value on their farm.
E Tipu are also excited to hear from Lucie Douma and Daniel Eb, two Nuffield scholars, who will bring fresh, global perspectives to the table.
Liam Lenaghan, founder of GO.FARM Australia, will also be speaking. With over 20 years of experience in transforming underutilised land into highly productive and sustainable farming systems, Liam will share his insights into the future of
agricultural investment and how to drive change in the sector.
A special panel of four future farmers, including George Dodson, FMG Young Farmer of the Year 2024, will discuss how our young farmers hope to grow into the future.
Lastly, we’ll hear from four Chief Executives of Economic Development Agencies from around New Zealand: Chami Abeysinghe (Great South), Nigel Davenport (Venture Timaru), Michelle Bauer (Venture Taranaki), and Vaughan Cooper (Northland Inc).
