Celebrate Te Tau Hou Māori, the Māori New Year.
Matariki is a time to reflect, reconnect and look to the future. Join us to mark Te Tau Hou Māori, the Māori New Year, with an inspiring morning learning from Te Pu-a-Ngā-Maara (TPNM), a rangatahi-led (youth) collective doing powerful work at the intersection of nature, people and place.
TPNM was born out of the shared aspirations of Makaurau Marae, Manurewa Marae and Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae. Their mission is to “revive ancestral knowledge and practices, reconnect people to place and regenerate te taiao (nature) for the future”. The project employs and upskills local rangatahi (Taiao Rangers) and embeds local Mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge). The mahi of TPNM weaves together the elements of rangi (sky), whenua (land), moana (oceans) and tāngata (people).
As well as sharing kōrero on Matariki, the TPNM team will talk about:
- Their connections with the business world
- What makes good partnerships work
- The outcomes of investment in rangatahi leadership and te taiao
Connecting with the star Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the session will include a collective visioning exercise to share aspirations for nature and business in the year to come.
The morning will close with shared kai and kōrero.
TPNM has developed Matariki resources that you can buy on the day for $9.
TPNM has partnered with SBN across a number of projects including the Tāmaki Taiao Alliance, Connect for Nature, and the Puhinui Regeneration Project.
Who this is for:
- Businesses wanting to build partnerships that drive impact for communities and te taiao.
- SBN Impact Investors (members) and non-members who wish to learn about Matariki.
