Seven years after launching Mindful Money, where he is also Co-CEO, Barry is retiring for health reasons. He will continue to contribute to Mindful Money as an advisor.
Since its inception, Mindful Money has become a strong advocate for ethical investment and a trusted source of information on the companies within the portfolios of all KiwiSaver and retail investment funds. The free website has been used by hundreds of thousands of Kiwis and has influenced ethical investment practices.
Barry is also stepping down from SBN’s board and from his roles as head judge of the Sustainable Business Awards, member of our Audit & Risk Committee and advisor to our Sustainable Business Fund.
Rachel Brown, CEO of SBN, says: “Barry’s contribution to SBN has always gone above and beyond, as has his determination to use money as a force for good through Mindful Money. Anyone who knows Barry knows it’s been a lifetime of commitment to ethical and social change, extending well beyond his many formal roles to work in communities both internationally and at a hyper-local level. Wherever he puts his energy, he makes an extraordinary difference.
“I feel very lucky to have worked closely with Barry and to call him a friend. We are incredibly grateful for his wisdom, integrity and leadership over so many years. We will miss him on our board enormously, but most of all we hope stepping back gives Barry the space to focus on his health. He still has so much to offer, and we look forward to his continued insight and contribution in the years ahead.”
Barry says SBN is a fabulous organisation and it has been a privilege to contribute as a board member, co-developer, judge, trainer and collaborator.
“I will continue to be hugely supportive of Rachel and the team in doing the mahi to lead and support sustainability across the business community,” he says.
